Xicameri Productions will be partnering with the Contra Costa County Public Defenders' office and YEIP (Youth Early Intervention Program) to lead 4 workshops guided by a professional from the Expressive Arts Therapy field. In these workshops at-risk youth will create visual art that exemplifies their relationship with and understanding of "justice". This is part of an effort to heal and repair the relationship between the community and the broken justice system. The art created during this project will then be displayed in the juvenile courthouse of Contra Costa County and the public defenders' office.

Mothers
San Francisco, CA - April 2024
Santa Cruz, CA - April 2024 |
Mothers features an all-mother cast that brings their insight to the difficulties, joys, and ironies of motherhood in a way that will make you smile and break your heart all at the same time. In eight movements, “Mothers” uses new music, arranged lullabies and nursery rhymes, as well as spoken word to invite all of us into the world of motherhood. The tapestry-like composition of Stephanie Valadez will accompany the beautiful work of Claire Calalo Berry of for change dance collective. In this Bildungsroman story, we follow the protagonist through the woes of being a daughter, the work-life balance of the child-bearing years, and the self-repair needed to flourish as a mother.

Past Projects
Berkeley, CA - December 10, 2022
Virtual Release - March 6- 27, 2023 |
In this political commentary, presented by Xicameri Productions, we follow the story of a binational couple that has gone through immigration, deportation and separation at the hands of the United States government. Unfortunately, in this day and age, these stories are far too common, but not heard enough. The story will be told through a series of four 20-minute pieces that will premiere online in Fall 2022.
