This is not our home:
An Immigration Story Through Dance

In this political commentary, presented by Xicameri Productions, we follow the story of a binational couple that has gone through immigration, deportation and separation at the hands of the United States government.  Unfortunately, in this day and age, these stories are far too common, but not heard enough.

This work includes music by Stephanie Valadez and Nicolas Lell Benavides.  It is set to contemporary music mixed with Mexican folkloric music intertwined with excerpts from interviews with other immigrants and deportees.  Choreographers include Dana Lawton, Stephanie Tobon and Claire Calalo Berry.  The main themes are immigration, human rights, devotion and tenacity.  This work is based on the true story of Victor and Stephanie Valadez (pictured on the right).
